@andrewcoughlan said in Simplest edit to rename a single rom wboy.zip to wonderboy.zip:

But the basic premise here is that the name 'wboy' is somewhere defined within the files that make up the rom.

No it's not, it's defined in the emulator, the emulator determine which game you are trying to play by its name, then will map the content into memory by matching it with its database.
In layman's terms, you can't rename an arcade romset.

      Thanks @thorr69

I found deleting the RTB files in:
      retropie/configs/amiga/amiberry/whdboot/save-data/Kickstarts/

Then restarting sorted out the issues I was having. I think there were some leftovers from the other files causing a conflict perhaps. Sorted now though.

You don't necessarily have to rename all the files. If you use UXS it will scrape all the cover art and also create a gamelist.xml. That XML file should contain the proper meta data for your roms in it, which is what emulation station displays...

Batch Rename Files Tool built in file previewing comes in particularly handy when working with image files, but whatever type of file you use the program to edit, it is sure to save you a great deal of time and effort.
      New version changes include (changelog):

Improved integration with ExifTool Optimized performance when testing new file names Option for not analyzing media files (program settings window)....

@PetroRie I'd give it a go. I'm actually complaining about how it is explained to people by the experts not those asking the questions or having issues.
